Following the end of the civil war hundreds of thousands of people were displaced from their homeland (internally displaced persons or IDPs) and were housed in government-run camps. We were one of the few organisations who were allowed access to the IDP camps early to provide emergency aid including food, sanitation, water and clothing.
For about 3 months we put every facility of our organisation at work to provide:
• Food: we provided two to five thousand food parcels per day
• Garments: we provided basic clothing including underwear in truck loads
• Water: we hired a truck to constantly deliver water to the camps from other areas of the country
• Infant supply: we provided key materials required to look after babies including milk powder, nappies, milk bottles and more
